Friends, last summer I told you about Magic City Park, located in the central part of sunny Tashkent. The leisure area features numerous shops, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment pavilions. In the southern part of the park stands the large building of the oceanarium — today, let’s take a walk through its halls.

A Visit to Magic Aquarium
Tashkent’s first oceanarium opened in March 2022. According to media sources, the concept behind this space was inspired by the legend of the lost city of Atlantis. Magic Aquarium is considered one of the world’s most inland oceanariums: the Indian Ocean is 1,936 kilometers away, and the Atlantic is 6,256 kilometers from here. Interestingly, I recently came across a curious fact — Uzbekistan has no access to the world’s oceans, and neither do any of the countries that surround it. There are only two such countries in the world; the other is Liechtenstein.

The aquarium is home to one of the largest tanks in Asia, with a depth of around four meters and a capacity of over one million liters of water. A 20-meter pedestrian tunnel runs through the tank.

The complex is divided into 12 zones. According to travel guides, the themes of the exhibits vary greatly — you’ll find areas dedicated to the Amazon and to ancient civilizations. I noticed some rather unusual names for the zones: there’s a “Cartoon Zone” and a “Laser Room,” for example. My walk through Magic Aquarium took about an hour.

The oceanarium houses over 100 species of fish, snakes, and insects — more than 3,000 marine and freshwater creatures in total. Recently, penguins have also appeared in Magic Aquarium.
In addition to walking through the aquarium halls, guests can enjoy unique experiences or host special events. Magic Aquarium offers feeding sessions, photoshoots, guided tours, and even the opportunity to propose marriage in a truly unforgettable setting.

How to Get There by Metro
The address of Magic Aquarium is 174 Bobur Street. You can walk here from the Xalqlar do’stligi or Milliy bog’ metro stations — it takes about 15 minutes. There are several bus stops near the park’s eastern entrance.
The oceanarium is open from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. As of April 2025, the price of an adult ticket is 100,000 Uzbek soums.

Not far from the park and the aquarium, you’ll also find several buildings adorned with Tashkent’s famous mosaics — I invite you to check out the photos of these artworks in my related article.
Have a nice trip!
