On the first day of my trip to Kuala Lumpur, I was riding the monorail and spotted a very bright architectural complex with an unusual multi-tiered tower surrounded by striking figures. I looked it up online and found out there are several interesting Hindu temples in this area. A couple of days later I went back to see them up close and take a few photos.

A Walk Through the Temples
I managed to visit two temples located here. I found relatively little information about them online. The first complex is called Sree Veera Hanuman.

I couldn’t get in on my first attempt: I arrived around 14:00, but it turned out that on that day visits were only possible until noon and then again after 17:00. I took care of other errands and came back later.

The temple gates opened right on time at 17:00. Visitors can go inside and look at the interiors of the complex. Entry is free, and photography is allowed; please follow the dress code—avoid shorts and short skirts.

There is a hall in the temple filled with bright and unusual figures. My visit here took about ten minutes.
About 150 meters from Sree Veera Hanuman stands the Sri Kandaswamy Temple. Unlike the first complex, photography and video are not allowed here. Visitors may walk through the temple hall without cameras. Entry is free.

I found rather little information about the first temple, but next to the Sri Kandaswamy complex there was a signboard with text about the site. It states that the temple was founded by the Sri Lankan Hindu community in 1902. The current building was erected on the site of the old structure in 1997.
How to Get There
Tun Sambanthan monorail station is about a seven-minute walk from the temples. There’s also a bus stop a bit closer. I didn’t use buses in Kuala Lumpur, so I can’t say how that system works.

I took a taxi back. The Bolt app operates in the city. You can pay in cash or by bank card.
In my next article about Kuala Lumpur I’ll tell you about the Merdeka 118 tower, the second-tallest building in the world.
Have a nice trip!
